Introduction

I am currently working my way through the 1,240 bills that were passed during the Texas 88th Legislative Session. Starting with those that that took effect immediately. I've broken down the shorter bills into groups. My current sub-group is those bills that affected the Education Code. I will also be adding them to the Education sub-topic so that are there for viewing when any further bills modifying the Education Code are passed.
I am also finding that some of the bills are dealing with areas where I am feeling a desire to write a blog about the topic in general. So while reviewing, I'll be gathering some research for future Other blogs.

Texas

This topic was last updated on 2025-08-27.

Texas is truly a Republic. There are a multitude of items that to modify the state constitution must be modified. So there are times when Constitutional amendments are on the voting ballots. While I sometimes abhor the wording, the concept that all of those legally able to vote in Texas must vote on the change is a good one. And bills in Texas are generally short, making it easier for everyone to understand.

88th Legislature Laws

This subtopic was last updated on 2025-08-27

The blogs here will discuss the laws passed by Congress and signed into law, as well as those, passed by Congress and approved by the voters to become law. There are a multitude of laws and each time I post blogs I will notate here the current effective date if it is different from prior blogs. I am currently posting bills that took effect immediately - those bills total 336. I am currently posting regarding larger bills, so each blog covers a single bill.

Topics here may be related to legal matters but not innately legal. For instance, discussing grocery plastic bags versus cotton cloth bags. The item itself is not legal but many city governments have placed it into legislation.

Durham Report

This subtopic was last updated on 2025-08-13

The Durham report is the attempt to review what occurred during Crossfire Hurricane. It shows major fails on the part of the FBI to remain non-political and significantly harms their reputation. It makes Watergate look like child's play, even if taken in a light most favorable to the FBI.

Abortion

This subtopic was last updated on 2025-01-30

This topic is getting a lot of press again right now. It is always bubbling in the background, and now it seems to be at a boil. My opinion has always been that this is not a right protected under the constitution - that is there is no right to an abortion. I feel much the same about the claim of right to healthcare. You do not have the right to force someone else to provide these things to you. That being said, I also feel that you should not be required to continue a pregnancy that was a mistake - either contraceptive failure or assault. But I also feel that you need to be a responsible adult, and at a point there is a life inside of you that is owed protections as well. Since I do not think it is a Constitutional right, I have always felt state legislatures should be the ones making the laws. And they should be responding to their constituents when doing so.

Federal

This topic was last updated on 2025-06-04.

This should be a fairly limited bills area for management the overall structures like highways, military, federal buildings, federal laws, and the like. However it has become the micro manager of all micro managers. They get involved in areas that no federal government should be involved in, and shift more power upward. This has led to each party trying to run over the other party in the eyes of the voters, all the while doing everything possible to maintain their power. They do this by holding onto all of the money, and claiming they know best how it should be spent. But they run debts so badly that no one should be looking to them as an example of anything other than the way to overspend and go further into debt.
