A Bit of Background

The following backgrounds help summarize the author's views on both the general topic: Federal and more specifically No Vaccine Mandates 2023 as it relates to that topic.

Brief Summary of Federal

This should be a fairly limited bills area for management the overall structures like highways, military, federal buildings, federal laws, and the like. However it has become the micro manager of all micro managers. They get involved in areas that no federal government should be involved in, and shift more power upward. This has led to each party trying to run over the other party in the eyes of the voters, all the while doing everything possible to maintain their power. They do this by holding onto all of the money, and claiming they know best how it should be spent. But they run debts so badly that no one should be looking to them as an example of anything other than the way to overspend and go further into debt.

Summary of No Vaccine Mandates 2023

These bills would prevent mandates concerning COVID19 vaccines. Multiple variants have been proposed.

Ending COVID-19 vaccine requirements for aliens

Published: 2023-12-01

This bill prohibits Travel Vaccination requirements as long as there are not other Acts requiring it. Sounds a bit like edging your bet. You can say you voted for this and then turn around and vote to impose them, and not be lying. This bill basically ends what is already labeled as a 'Temporary' measure.

Ends the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection decision entitled 'Notification of Temporary Travel Restrictions Applicable to Land Ports of Entry and Ferries Service between the United States and Canada'. It ends the Secretary of Homeland Security entitled 'Notification of Temporary Travel Restrictions Applicable to Land Ports of Entry and Ferries Service between the United States and Mexico'. And any successor or subsequent decisions from the Secretary of Homeland Security or Commission of US Customs and Border Protection for entry into the US regarding proof of COVID-19 vaccination. It has no effect on Executive Orders or other means of entering same. In fact, it does not directly address the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention orders or requirements.

What I think is sad is that when they signed in the 'Temporary' measure they did not set an automatic expiration. Yes, it may have been set too soon and have required an extension. But that is so much better than putting something in place, saying in the Act that it is 'Temporary' but not having an expiration date.

I think this is more of a virtue signaling style bill. Hey look what I did - I ended the vaccination requirements for COVID-19 for aliens entering or being in the US. But allows them to enter anything, similar to what was previously entered as Temporary, into an existing Act that would require the COVID-19 vaccination for aliens. So they can claim what they want depending on the audience to whom they are speaking.
