A Blog about 88th Legislature Laws
The following backgrounds help summarize the author's views on both the general topic: Texas and more specifically 88th Legislature Laws as it relates to that topic.
Texas is truly a Republic. There are a multitude of items that to modify the state constitution must be modified. So there are times when Constitutional amendments are on the voting ballots. While I sometimes abhor the wording, the concept that all of those legally able to vote in Texas must vote on the change is a good one. And bills in Texas are generally short, making it easier for everyone to understand.
The blogs here will discuss the laws passed by Congress and signed into law, as well as those, passed by Congress and approved by the voters to become law. There are a multitude of laws and each time I post blogs I will notate here the current effective date if it is different from prior blogs. I am currently posting bills that took effect immediately - those bills total 336. I am currently posting regarding larger bills, so each blog covers a single bill.
HB 2314 - Requires insurance carriers covering workers compensation death benefits to record receipt of claims and notify the division - OMG, do their job.
HB 3335 - Includes travel to an emergency call as part of the police officers employment.

First it modifies to allow filing with the division or insurance carrier. Because I am guessing now that workers' compensation now pays insurance companies to manage their funds and make insurance companies astronomically richer. For a nation that complains about companies being greedy, we sure seem to be led by the nose to pay insurance companies who are getting astronomically richer year after year, and they are doing it while instilling fears into the American public. It's seriously painful and laughable all at once.
If the claim is filed with an insurance carrier, the carrier must:
That'll show them, make they do what they should be doing with any claim ever made.
It adds peace officer to the travel of list of personnel en rote to an emergency call is considered the course and scope of employment. So odd because I cannot imagine it not always having been included.
