Short review of some of the new laws from the 89th Texas Legislature.

Texas is truly a Republic. There are a multitude of items that to modify the state constitution must be modified. So there are times when Constitutional amendments are on the voting ballots. While I sometimes abhor the wording, the concept that all of those legally able to vote in Texas must vote on the change is a good one. And bills in Texas are generally short, making it easier for everyone to understand.

This is just a general idea of the volume of new items passed during the 88th Legislative session. While downloading each of the laws, I could see that there are a multitude of 2 pages bills. Often a portion of the 2 pages are general language such that the bill itself is less than 1 page.
There are a lot of bills, all of which I have downloaded the final versions of. My plan is to work diligently through those that took effect immediately, and then work through different sections of Code from earliest to latest effective date for changes. This is different than how I approached the 88th Session bills. However, I am hoping to work through these bills more diligently than I did in the previous bill session.

Quite a bit of funding for preservation and maintenance of state buildings. And then over $1 BILLION moved from the general fund and the state highway fund into the Employee Retirement System. So much for it funding itself.
